For years I spent tons of money on buying books and most of them I would read once and get rid of. Really a waste of a lot of money.
Finally I went to our local library and had a look around.
You need to obtain a card to check books out. All we have to do here is show proof of residence and you get a card. We are allowed to take 6 books at a time for a period of a month.
If you do not get them back on time they will charge you but it is just pennies. They do have a drop slot to put the books in after hours. I had one experience using this and wont use it again as I never got credit for returning the book and ended up having to pay for it so from then on I made sure I took them back to the desk personally and watch them get stamped.
You will find in the library copy machines which can come in very handy at times. Here too you will also find computers for use. There is no charge to use them and the copy machine is only a dime so have used it many times.
Some books are not available to take out and thus you have to look up the information you want while you are there and then I will use the copier to get what I need to take home.
They have a vast array of books in all categories and if you cant find what you are looking for they are very helpful and will tell you exactly where it is.
You can also check out videos, music tapes and even dvds at no cost so that is another feature I like.
If you are looking for a certain book and they dont have it in they will get it for you from another library.
It is also a great place to go for some peace and quiet and to just sit back and relax, read the newspaper or whatever strikes your fancy.
Also once a year here they have a book sale and you can get some great books for next to nothing.
I could spend hours there just looking so it makes a nice day out. I cant think of any reason not to use the library.
